In 1981, Arutmin Indonesia enteres into agreement with the Indonesian goverment for the exploration and development of the Kalimantan Block 6 area, located in the South Kalimantan province.

In Twenty years Arutmin Indonesia from a trial mine to a globally competitive thermal coal producer shipping more than fifteen million tonnes of saleable product annually to Indonesian and export market.

Arutmin Indonesia extensive lease area contains substantial resources of both bituminous and subbituminous coal sufficient to maintain production level over the next ten years. With their high reactivity and excellent combustion characteristics. Arutmin Indonesia's coal are ideally suited for consumption in both power stations and industrial plants.

Commencement of Arutmin Indonesia's loading terminal NPLCT in 1994, further raised the competitiveness and realibility of these coals. This facility provides Arutmin Indonesia with the capability to ship up to 14 million tonnes of coal per year to the International market.

In 2010, PT Arutmin Indonesia plans to produce 24.3 million tonnes of coal. The product contains 13.76 million tonnes of bituminous coal and 10.58 million tonnes of sub-bituminous coal. Of the coal produced, some are intended to supply the domestic demand, particularly the first 10,000-MW Steam Power Plant while others are to be exported.
