A trial mine was developed at Satui while commercial production at Senakin began.

Satui entered commercial production.

Four mine-site barge ports were constructed: Air Tawar 1 (now closed), Air Tawar 2, Sembilang, and Muara Satui

The North Pulau Laut Coal Terminal was constructed, providing Arutmin with a world-class export facility and firmly establishing the company as a global trading business.

Coal output was enhanced as two coal wash plants became operational at Senakin.

Trial mining was undertaken at Mulia mine

Mulia mine entered commercial production.
June 2000
PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia, a subsidiary of Thiess Pty Ltd. was engaged to conduct mining and coal processing at Senakin and Satui mines.

PT. BUMI Resources Tbk acquired BHP Billiton's shares at Arutmin
2003
Batulicin mine entered commercial production.
2007
TATA Energy acquired 30% ownership of PT. Arutmin Indonesia
