Community Development

Arutmin is one of only a few omesticsns actively promoting economic and social development in its area. It prioritises the development of agricultural and business expertise to accelerate the transition from subsistence to sustainable lifestyles. The company omestics empowerment and responsibility rather than simple funds transfer. Arutmin has expenditure commitments with the community but is more interested in the effectiveness of such expenditure. Most Arutmin support requires community participation.

Community development work takes place in the following sectors :

Local economic development that include microfinance development, promote income generation activities i.e agribusiness development, home industry development, entrepreneurship training, business partnership development, small business consultation.
Education and training: extensive scholarship programs, construction of schools, provision of library books, an apprenticeship program for school leavers who then receive company employment or career placement assistance.
Infrastructure development: roads, public facilities, establishment of clean water supplies. Arutmin usually mandates community participation in community infrastructure work to engender a sense of local ownership and responsibility.
Health support: medical equipment, access to Arutmin health clinics, assistance with public initiatives - vaccination drives, health experts visits, local volunteer training, birth attendant training, water and sanitation education, and HIV/AIDS education.
Culture and religion: construction of religious centres, funding and facilities for religious day celebrations, sporting events, support for efforts to preserve and explore traditional arts, celebratory events for public holidays, sports or youth events.
Emergency support: victims of fire, poor families needing donations for food or medical treatment, communities at risk of contagious diseases.
